There’s a gal down in New Orleans, sweetest baby you’ve ever seen,

And Clara Hazel is her name.

She’s got hazel eyes and curly hair; got no worries and got no cares.

I love that little Clara Hazel o’ mine.

And in the summertime she’s at the swimming pool;

She’s making everybody laugh.

She’s so adorable when she is playing cool;

I have to take a million photographs.

She’s my honey and I love her so.  Makes me sad when I have to go,

Because I love that precious gorgeous girl … 

I’m gonna shout it out to the whole wide world.

My “petite cherie” – sweet granddaughter o’ mine

Call me “crazy” or “prepossessed,” but the way I see it I’m “heaven-blessed.”

Clara Hazel is her name – and ever since she came, life has never been the same.
