I’ve got something to tell you that you shouldn’t forget:

“You can’t get along without friends.”

When you feel lonely, just pick up the phone

And you’ll always get help from your friends

Anyone can be an individual.  You don’t even have to pretend.

But what’s harder to do – and it takes at least two … people to be close friends.

Lovers? Forget ’em!   You lose ’em; you win ’em.   But after a while you need more.

You need friends – warm friends – the kind who love you without keeping score

They’re your friends – Old friends – Close friends

There’s this golden old rule that we’re learning in school”

“You’ll never be cool without friends.”

A friend is someone who lets you join in the fun;

So start while you’re young.  Be a friend!

Don’t be a dope or a “smart aleck.”  Getting along is such a good habit.

So start with a smile, then talk for a while, and you’ll turn a stranger into a friend. 

And when you get older – and people seem colder –

There’ll always be somebody you can depend on …

Your friends —  Warm friends –

The ones who didn’t laugh at you when you tore your pants  — 

They’re your friends – Old friends – Close friends

Don’t even think you can get away from it – there’s nothing you can do –

Cause when you’re hiding in a corner – feeling like a loner –

Friends will come looking for you

And when you get older – and people seem colder –

There’ll always be somebody you can depend on …

The ones who saved every card that you sent

They’re your friends – Old friends – 

The ones who looked up your address on the Internet 

      They’re your friends – Old friends – 

                The ones who love you even when you’re a mess

      They’re your friends – Old friends – Close friends
